about

Favorite Chords: 2009 - 2014

Tracks 1 - 7 were recorded with James Moffitt at The Rattle Room in Anacortes, WA, February 2010. These were the good old days when we still toured in a purple minivan, Monterrey was like the Promised Land, and chorus pedals on every song were acceptable, even encouraged.

Tracks 8 + 9 were recorded live at the Experience Music Project in Seattle at Sound Off!, March 6th, 2010. What you hear is two 20 year olds simultaneously very stoked and very scared, pretending to know what they're doing.

Tracks 10 + 11 were recorded by Wesley Williams during the sessions for the Amadeus EP. "We Don't Try" is an alternate mix, pre-reverb bath, and "Story" was later released as a single for Burning Building Recordings in April of 2011.

Track 12 was recorded with James Moffitt at The Surface Of The Sun Studios in Anacortes, and released as a single with 20 Sided Records in August of 2011. We later rereleased it on "These Days" and two tours with The Cat From Hue down the West Coast followed. We're most likely going remember these road trips to California as the most fun we've ever had.

Track 13 + 14 are home demos from our Bow Hill practice loft, dating back to sometime in 2011.

Tracks 15 - 20 were recorded by Nicholas Wilbur at The Unknown in Anacortes, April of 2013. We spent a week shouting into church ceilings and overdubbing feedback, which didn't make us seem crazy to passing residents, like, at all. "11:11" was later released as a single by the good folks over at Haze Tapes.

Tracks 21 + 22 were recorded live at BigFOM in WWU's Viking Multipurpose Room on May 4th, 2013. Special thanks to mix master Brendan Silk for sorting through all those sounds. .

Track 23 is a live version of "Echo" recorded by Ryan Ohlemeier one cold, December 2013 evening at a magical little Bellingham bar called The Shakedown. We played with Cumulus and Vervex that night.

Tracks 24 - 26 were recorded by Jackson Mathey during the sessions for "Now + Then," September of 2013. "Make The Trek Again" was cut from the album last-minute, while "A Cloak Of Elvenkind" is a Marcy Playground cover and "Criticism As Inspiration" is a Pedro The Lion cover we did for kicks. I don't know if we'll ever be able to fully express our gratitude for the time, talent, patience, and hard work Jackson put in to "Now + Then."

Tracks 27 + 28 were recorded in our humble downstairs practice space in Bellingham, WA. Summer of 2014 and beyond.
